"Whisper In The Dark"

In this second assignment, we' required to do a model with 2400 mm height x 2400 mm lenght x 300 mm with the theme of hard rock music genre. In my latest post, Me and my group mates had done a presentation about Hard Rock music genre with a Info-graphic board. After that based on our understanding of hard rock, made a rhythm wall with white colour which is the only colour we can use on this model.

The first thing that came out in my mind is ripped clothes, because mostly hard rock bands their outfit was ripped, leather with heavy make up and extreme hair style. I get inspired by their fashion and so came out with this design. Which is the eye recognize as when they sing at the higher tone, the pupil of the eyes will smaller and the eyes looks wider and bigger.

For the clothes I choose t-shirt fabric because when it ripped it looks soft but strong at the same time. As for the eyes I choose paper clay because when it dried off, the surface of the clay will rough and crack outcome. 

I finished my rhythm wall model with a tag line called "whisper in the dark", this is one of the lyrics in hard rock music which I heard it from the radio. I set this tag line for my model because it suits the feeling that I want to express, the eye is like hiding in the dark do not let other know its an eye but something else. It looks mystery when added the ripped clothes, which proved my tag line. At the hard rock concert, the whispering from the back stage, the mystery of the bands.

Music

In this particular subject that I had in this semester, all assignments are related to music genre.

On the first class in week 2, we have a draw on the selection of music genres and based on the music genres find your group mates which is same music genre. My music genres was hard rock music, which I'm not so good at it. Basically, it considered is my first time touch this kind of music genres. 

After that we group into 5 people per group and I group with Chiang shu ling, Tia Nellisa, Claudia and Dickson. Before the next tutorial start, we discussed on our design for info graphic. After we had tutorial with Ms Shar, although we change our design but our information is on the right track. On the next day, we started to do our info graphic board which is in A1 sized.

This is our Hard Rock music genre Info graphic board and our feedback from both lecturer is too much words, graphic too less.

In this music genre, we discussed around 10 main point and each people get 2 for the further explanation. I get characteristic, example and public opinion.

Basically, Hard rock was influenced by Blue's music. Which have the most frequently used scale in hard rock is the pentatonic. For the example, I found some top hard rock band which is quite famous in Asia. As for the public opinion, I did 30 set of survey forms which consist 3 queastion, "do you listened to hard rock music before?", "What did you feel?", and "How many hard rock songs that you have in your playlist".

Overall for this new music genre for me, I'm still ok with it. But I still cannot accept the rhythm.
