Interior Design Project 2a: Promotional Kiosk

In this second stage right after we understand all the programmes, we need to start create a brand or re-branding the current brand for our curative retreat center. On this project, we are allowed to work as a team of 4 too which is still the same group mates with the first projects. 

The requirements are building up a brand which include the name, logo and the background, promotion booth and sample product designs. All requirements are need to related with the programes and the user itself. From this projects, I felt that I'm studying marketing business which we need to find a way to design for attractions and the psychological impact. This project I enjoyed the most compared to all others, because can create a brand from scratch and I had been interested and studied on branding quite a long time. 

Our first step on this project is create a name as we decided on creating new brand than re-branding the current ones. We kept on find the synonyms of the term "love" or "care" which could symbolized the nature loving from a mom. At the end of discussion, we decide to name our curative retreat center as "Aurora" which means in Ancient Roman goddess of the dawn or radiant emission 

"Be the goddess of the day, during your postnatal period to get your pre-baby body back"

Based on the meanings, we created the logo which combining the fairy tale-ish with soft pastel colour and graphic symbolized the mom and baby. Pink pastel colour represent the female and lemon yellow represent the goddess or the important timing for the female.

According to our programes, we decided to use body scrub and herbal tea as the sample product for our promotional booth which is convenience for the user to testing on the spot. We re-designing the packaging by change the colour and put our logo on the packaging.

We keep our packaging design clean and simple which easier to carry around and keep in bag too. From that, we need to design a compact-able promotional kiosk which is easy to install and keep by just 1 people. The purpose of this kiosk is to promote our brand to the nations. At the end of our discussions, we decide to put our promotional booth at Mid Valley Mega Mall because of the population and great environment as in there's always have baby's fair going on. 

Last but not least, we combine everything that we had done into a presentation slides. 

From this projects, I have acknowledge the functional of exhibition design, circulation in addition of visual psychology impact. I really enjoy the whole process of creating new brand. For me, its creating new meanings and identity the story behind and from there make it logic, promotions, samples and media commercials to spread the story and the services as well.  

Interior Design Project 1: Research Findings: Curative Service

In this semester 4 of interior design project subject,we're going to design a curative retreat center in total of 3 projects, 2 group project and 1 individual.. Before that, we have to draw luck to pick a topic from the selections that set from our lecturers. The choices are weight management, dietary / nutrition, occupational, aesthetic, native and cerebral. For my group, we get weight management topic and I was a bit sad because I wish to have dietary topic but its okay I take it as challenge. 

As for our first stage of designing projects, we need to considerate our clients / main user of the space and understand the possibility of the activities. Weight management could be a wide range, from children to senior citizens, its a need in every stage. Based on our group discussion, we decided to focus on confinement women. After we decided our focus group, we start planning the programme according to the user needs, wants and condition. From my perspective, this stage is crucial because we need to understand the needs and wants and based on that, create a functionality and visual relaxation space for the user. Last but not least, we combined all our research into a video presentation.

Reflection on Video editing Class

In video editing class final project,

I became the director

Because we are using my story to film the video.

Overall experience was amazed and I enjoyed.

This is the first time for me conducting a video from story to filming.

At the same time I would like to thanks my group mates, Jocelyn and Ester who guided me well through the whole filming process.

At first I though it would be hard because my main character is my cousin and she is 9 years old.

Pairing with child which also first time for me, and I am scared that I will not be able to guide her well. But surprisingly she is a very good actor, she could act!

Her emotion and impression reach my expectation.

The hard time through out this filming process is the requesting cafe for filming.

Because in my ending, it will need to film it at a cafe.

As a cafe is a public spaces, not all cafe allow us to film.

But at the end we're lucky to able to film at Hype concept cafe at SS15.

Thank you Hype Concept Cafe for allow us to film in your cafe!

Last but not least, in general I had a good time to film and finally I can understand that filming is not that easy.Its just not only about the story, the lights, angle and motion considered the main key.

At here I would like to thanks Mr Martin for guiding us and theach us all kind of shots, angle and even story setting. I'm glad that I've made the right decision by choosing this subject.

What if I manage to run away...

this appeared in my mind.
When I was small, I feels that I can't get enough attention on me.
One day, I have an idea.
Although I can't get enough attention on me,
what if I made something that makes happiness?
At that time, food delivery is the first thing in my mind.
Food.
The simplest and the easiest thing that create happiness.
I used to imagine that...
I will work in a restaurant.
Packing all the delicious food.
Deliver the most heart warming meals to those who needs.
The dreams that I dream.
Simple.
Not so fantasy.
But for real.

Story line of video editing class

Childhood, a growing stage between birth and puberty which assume to be the most happiest and purest moments in our life times. There is some saying that children's mindset is the most creative ever, but who can secure every single child's creativity? It is infinite and unstoppable crazy ideas and the point of view among daily life. 

When I was small, I hardly meet my parents because they were busy with their career at overseas and I was grown up in a typical Chinese family mostly with y grandparents. During that time, I had suffered the middle child syndrome which has been a belief that middle children don't get the attention the eldest or the youngest in the family gets. Which lead  my creativity flow in a negative mindset that I always asked myself "Who am I?" "Why I'm here?" "Am I adopted?" and more...I always had an adventure in my house to find the evidence of my birth but then I couldn't find any (actually I found birth certificate but during that time I was a kid don't know that is the evidence). At the same time, I used to asked myself questions that started with "What if...?" then I'll think of 2 consequences. "What if, I committed suicide? If I success, I'll become a spirit and float in the air just me alone (I was scare being alone when I was small, what I can conclude my imagination is face the reality which is no one will care about me). I can imagine that the surrounding is dark, cold and I cried because too scary. If I unsuccessful, I can imagine I'm laying in a hospital surround with my family member despise me which let me feel wanna run away from home to wherever I can get attention from others. With my planning, my  first run away was half way success, 4 hours missing in action with no one notice about it and end up going back home. Indeed, I do it again but I get caught up by my grandma while I was planing to go back. After that no more escape, because my parents had arranged me to a strict after school-programmed.

By the time passed, I had come to rebellious stage which the time that I disobey each point of view to gain acceptence. Because of this mindset, I played football for the first in my life because I was arguing with my male friends that who said girls cannot play football. Due to some coincidence, I become more adventurist and more friendly, no longer emo or negative thinking. I'm different compare with the younger me.
